Daasebre Osei-Bonsu II, Omanhene of Asante-Mampong, has appealed to Ghanaians living abroad to be more supportive of development programmes initiated, to help alleviate the people back from poverty.
He said it was important that they accepted to do their bit, to complement Government's efforts at making things better, especially for the rural population.
Daasebre Osei-Bonsu II was inaugurating a GH¢40,000 Junior High School (JHS) classroom block at Benim near Asante-Mampong on Monday.
The project was single-handedly financed by Mrs. Comfort Mpebie Kwateng, a native of the community, resident in the United States.
He noted that the problem of "rural-urban drift" would be on the decline if conditions in the rural areas are made attractive.
When people have easy access to facilities including schools, health, good drinking water, electricity, markets and good roads, there would not be any motivation for them to migrate to urban centres.
He used the platform to remind politicians about the need to ensure that the rural communities enjoy their fair share of the national cake.
Daasebre Osei-Bonsu advised the pupils and staff of the school to take good care of the building.
Mr Thomas Addai-Nimoh, Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, said education is one of his major priorities, adding that, it was on account of this that he has set up a scholarship scheme for brilliant but needy pupils and students in the area.
He promised to do everything he could to ensure that the Kofiase-Benim-Pentem road is put in good shape.
Mr Frank Musah, Mampong Municipal Director of Education, asked teachers to be dedicated to duty and serve as role models to the pupils.
The pupils must also avoid cyber fraud and eschew all acts that could destroy their future.
