Mr Theophilus Tetteh Chaie, National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma Central said leadership involved the promotion of the economic independence of the people to enable them to contribute to nation building.
He said the youth in the area had been neglected and that they lacked the basic amenities to enable them to acquire skills to leave meaningful lives.
Mr Chaie, a 36-year-old educationist, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency during an NDC rally in the constituency on Sunday, noted that policies and programmes should be in the best interest of the people to reduce poverty and eliminate ignorance.
He said he would work with the people to define a clear agenda so that "we can together identify and prioritize the needs of the constituency and make it better than we find today".
Mr Chaie said in spite of the huge revenue government generated from the constituency, especially at the Abossey Okai Spare Parts area, little came to the area by way of development.
Mrs Ama Benyiwa Doe, National Women's Organizer of the NDC urged the supporters to bear in mind that "a vote for Theophilus Chaie is a vote for the implementation of more development projects in the constituency".
She advised party faithful to be wary of trouble makers who would pretend to be NDC supporters with an aim to retard the progress of the party in the constituency.
