Security analyst Colonel Festus Aboagye has urged the government to take immediate action in addressing the destruction of state institutions allegedly carried out by individuals linked to supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Among the targeted institutions are the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) headquarters, the Passport Office, and several district assemblies.
In an interview with Citi News, Col. Aboagye stressed the need for the current administration to utilize its security forces to restore order, cautioning against leaving this responsibility to the incoming government.
“The Ministry of Defense is there, the Ministry of National Security is still in charge until January 7. So we expect, per the provisions of the Constitution, that these officials will take responsibility for peace and stability in the country and not share that responsibility with the incoming administration.
“The perception I have is that the police are currently less inclined towards heavy-handedness.
“That is what I have seen. During the elections, the police that we saw, their behaviour, their conduct, especially at the collation centres where there were disputes, were very, very different from four years ago in Techiman.”
