The Keta Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Emmanuel Gemegah, has called on chiefs and people of Anlo Afiadenyigba to unite towards accelerated development of the area.
He said that for the area to succeed in its development agenda, there was the need for the people to remain resolute and collectively implement its development agenda.
Mr Gemegah made the call at a mini Hogbe Festival of the chiefs and people of the area, at Anlo Afiadenyigba, in the Volta Region, at the weekend.
The festival, which precedes the main Anlo Hogbetsotso festival, was aimed at bringing all the 36 communities in the Anlo Traditional Area, together to brainstorm about development needs.
The MCE noted that culture played a significant role in a people’s development, and urged the people to project their cultural heritage towards progress.
He assured the chiefs and people of Anlo Afiadenyigba of government’s commitment to rehabilitating the main roads passing through the town before the end of the year.
The Awadada of the Anlo State, Torgbui Agbesi Owusu 11, commended the chiefs and people of their rich culture, which was characterised the display by the various traditional drumming groups.
He said that the area had so much natural resources that needed to be exploited for development.
Torgbui Agbesi Awusu 11 called for the improvement in fishing, salt mining and kente weaving in the area to create employment for the youth.
He urged the youth to change their mind sets of waiting on the government for everything, instead of taking advantage of the natural resources available to enhance their welfare.
The Dufia of the town, Torgbui Kadzahlo 1V, appealed to the government to make sure that the Anlo Afiadenyigba-Havedzi roads were completed on time, to boost economic activities.
He urged the residents to be law abiding and unite towards development.
