Internship programs provide an excellent opportunity for individuals to learn new skills, be exposed to industry-specific issues and learn how to engage with professionals in a corporate setting. On the other hand, there are just as many benefits for companies. For example, companies hosting internships can test-drive the talent of young individuals, increase productivity in the workplace and improve the overall work environment.
The Energy Pioneers Program (EPP) aims not only to foster significant opportunities for students and recent graduates but also to benefit host companies. Here are some of the reasons why companies should participate in the Energy Pioneers Program:
Local training and employment governmental compliance
In most countries, companies are bound by compliance regulations such as labour rules, employment quotas and local content requirements. Furthermore, companies are encouraged to give back to the community and support community development. By being part of the EPP, companies can abide by labour rules and easily fill employment quotas. Additionally, companies will be able to fulfil local content requirements by onboarding local interns. From an outreach perspective, hosting an internship with the EPP will be advantageous to the local workforce by creating jobs, upskilling individuals and thereby affecting socio-economic change.
Hassle-free recruitment of interns
The recruitment process can be time-consuming and tedious. As such, the African Energy Chamber (AEC) will handle this process on behalf of the host company. The AEC will conduct the first round of interviews, prepare the candidates for subsequent interviews including an Internship Preparation Manual and only send through the shortlisted candidates for interviews with the host company. The Internship Preparation Manual will ensure that shortlisted candidates are equipped with some of the soft skills needed to be professional in the workplace. Ultimately, the host company makes the final choice on intern recruitment minus the hassle of the recruitment process.
Media coverage from the AEC
The AEC is well-recognised as the voice of Africa’s energy sector. Our network and partnerships exist both on the African continent and globally. Host companies of the EPP will leverage from the AEC’s social media presence of 20k+ followers in addition to our overall online presence as well as by virtue of general association through which the AEC will promote the companies collaborating on the EPP.
With the above benefits to consider, companies are welcome to participate in the Energy Pioneers Program. The African Energy Chamber assures stability and success during the process. Furthermore, the Energy Pioneers Program seeks to find intelligent, determined, and curious young individuals for our host companies.
