Mr Peter Amewu, the Minister in charge of Railways is to begin a two-day visit in the Western Region to familiarise himself with realities in the sector.
His visit, the first of its kind as he replaced Mr Joe Ghartey, former Minister of the sector would also allow him to share his vision, Mandate, and aspirations with stakeholders and solicit their support to improve upon the sector.
The improvement and rehabilitation of existing railway lines have been key to the Akufo Addo-led Government with various financial, technical, and investor injection to rebuild a robust rail industry that has the potential to spare the roads from frequent destruction as a result of heavy vehicular movement.
Mr Charles Cobbinah, the Western Regional Coordinating Council Public Relations Officer said the Minister would engage the media, pay a courtesy call to Nana Kobina Nketsiah V, Paramount Chief of Essikado among other sectors players.
Mr Amewu would also visit the railway training school, interact with railway workers under the famous "bottom Tree" at a Location near Ketan, and may have a train ride from Takoradi to Tarkwa.
