Ghana Gas Company Limited has called for the training of journalists in oil and gas reporting in the various journalism institutions so as to ensure accurate and factual reportage on activities in the oil and gas industry.
It said it has initiated steps to partner with Ghana Institute of Journalism, School of Communication Studies- Legon and the Takoradi Technical University to sponsor the training of journalists in the oil and gas industry.
Mr Ernest Owusu Bempah, Head of Corporate Communication at Ghana Gas, who made this known during a press soriee held for journalists and media partners, said there is the need to introduce oil and gas reporting in the curriculum used to train journalists.
The press soriee was also to show its gratitude to the media for the support and cordial relationship that exist between them.
Mr Bempah, who was full of praise for journalists in the region, said Ghana Gas is ready to provide scholarships to journalists in the region to pursue courses in oil and gas either within the country or abroad.
He said his outfit is operating an open-door policy and was ready to accept constructive criticisms as this would help the company to grow.
"Our doors are always open you can walk in at any time you need clarifications and information ", he said.
Mr Bempah called on the media to be circumspect in their reportage on issues concerning the company and that they should always cross check their facts before publishing their reports.
He said the company performed well last year by ensuring the successful expansion of the Takoradi Regulatory Metering Station, the tie -in at Aboadze and the daily supply of 90 million standard cubic feet (mscf) of gas to the relocated Karpowerhip at the Sekondi Naval Base.
Mr Bempah said the company within the year won about six awards and they are going to work even more harder next year and called on the media to continue to support them in all their endeavours.
"Ghana Gas has done well and is looking forward to serving the nation and building a dynamic company", he said.
