The organization is doing this through vigorous nationwide breast screening exercises to detect symptoms early and support patients to access free medication and treatment.

The campaign has started in the Sunyani Municipality in collaboration with Space FM, a Sunyani-based Radio Station, which screened more than 800 women over the weekend.

Though results were not readily available, the Ghana News Agency (GNA) gathered that some of the women had earlier symptoms of breast cancer and were yet to be referred to specialists.

Mrs Comfort Pomaa, a Senior Midwife at the Regional Hospital in Sunyani, told the GNA that the breast cancer situation was alarming in the Region, requiring urgent attention.

Dr Juliet A Gyamfi, the Chief Executive Officer of Beautiful Beneath, a non-governmental organization and founder of the Breast Love Foundation, said similar screening exercises would be held at Bantama in Kumasi on Saturday, October 12, and Tema on October 19, this year.

"October is dedicated to breast cancer awareness globally and Ghana must expect something bigger and expansive on breast screening this year," she said.

 "We are determined to fight the monstrous breast cancer in Ghana, and in playing this role our mission is to usurp various efforts to collectively defeat this silent killer."

"Our love, faith, patience and hope for the breast never give up. It is eternal because from generation to generation, even generations unborn, everybody has, is and will or shall enjoy the satisfaction the breast milk gives".

"Our pledge today remains the same as last year, our entry into the arena of the fight against Breast Cancer is not just cosmetic but a fight we are well prepared to sustain until breast cancer is finally kicked out."

Dr Gyamfi said the Foundation would climax the breast screening campaign on October 25, with a "Pink Gals Concert" at the National Theatre, Accra, to raise funds to support the most unfortunate women suffering from it in addition to cervical cancers.

She said as part of the commitment to quality healthcare delivery in the country, her foundation intended to set up AEGIS Healthcare in Ghana.

AEGIS care is specifically designed and equipped with gadgets with  the needed health assistants, nurses, and caregivers to give comfort to clients irrespective of their religious affiliation, race and health condition.

"We are strongly set to take care of people who can't take care of themselves be it the elderly, the young, or people with disability while confidentiality remains our hallmark", she said.
