Mr Adzoteye Lawer Akrofi, the District Chief Executive for Ada West, has said the Assembly would explore the enormous agriculture potential that exist in the area to make the district the food basket of the country.
He said over 60 per cent of the population of Ada West depended on agriculture for their livelihood and for that reason it is the intention of the Assembly to make it attractive, especially for the youth to increase food production, to complement government’s efforts of “Moving Ghana Beyond Aid.”
Mr Akrofi said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Sege Nakomkpe, in the Greater Accra Region. He said the Assembly would work hard to construct a central market and a lorry station at Sege where the farmers and the fisher folk would have ready market for their produce to solve the problem of post-harvest losses, which has been a barrier to the people in agro-business.
Mr Akrofi said apart from the two projects, plans are far advanced to rehabilitate the 180-kilometre road network in the district to allow free-flow of goods and services.
