The Foundation for Generational Thinkers (FOGET), has been selected by the United Nations (UN) to host the 2018 edition of the Accra Global People’s Hub scheduled for September 22, 2018 in Accra.
The Accra People’s Hub, is being organised as part of Global People’s Summit of the UN General Assembly to raise awareness on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDSs) and to engage diverse stakeholders on how to collectively make the world a better place.
Mr Prosper Afetsi, President of FOGET told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that the event would be streamed live from the UN Headquarters in New York, USA. It is aimed at lifting global voices, inspire collaboration, and foster innovation to solve development challenges in our various communities and around the world.
The Accra Global People’s Hub will, serves as a live-stream location for the Global People’s Summit in Ghana, and a space for impact-driven people to connect, inspire and create community around complex local and global challenges.
It is also to localize conversations and inspire community engagement around the SDGs.
The event would be on the theme: "Reimagine humanity: Inspire the future”. Mr Afetsi said the Accra chapter would also have other activities such as panel discussions by tertiary students and experts on the SDGs as well as presentations on the Goals by distinguished individuals from the academia.
He said: “This year’s theme reimagine humanity, challenges the world to think differently, act boldly and inspire solutions to the world’s biggest problems”. Mr Afetsi said the programme, would be an avenue for partnership and support to disrupt the status quo and build a better tomorrow and urged individuals at their various locations to participate live on www.globalpeoplesummit.org or login on www.forget.org or register on https://accra-global-peoples-hub.eventbrite.com
“Featuring innovators, world leaders and change makers from around the world, will light global voices, amplify stories, inspire collaboration and celebrate innovation for humanity,” he said. He noted that development challenges continue to persist due to more people around the globe not having their say on how to tackle issues concerning their communities, countries and the world at large.
