It marked the graduation of 612 students representing 27 postgraduate certificates, 209 postgraduate and 376 undergraduate.The graduands pursued collaborative programmes with Coventry University, United Kingdom, CASS European School of Management Studies, France, and Anhalt University, Germany and KNUST.

Mr Kwaku Arthur, Acting Dean, Faculty of Engineering and an Interim Management Team (IMT) member of GTUC, noted that Information Technology (IT) had been woven into the fabric of universities and its presence in GTUC was fully recognised.

He said the usage of IT was empowering lecturers with engaging presentation tools and management systems and it promoted easy accessibility participation and supported correct assessments of students.

He said through the University’s partnerships they have been able to introduce highly advanced and innovative educational technologies within the institution, implemented new educational models, and exchanged experiences and best practices.

Mr Arthur said GTUC continues to focus on delivery of quality education as its core mandate; adding that “we are expectant that our graduates will not only demonstrate academic excellence but also espouse the virtues of humility, honesty, objectivity and tolerance".

He underscored the need for graduates to be resourceful and entrepreneurial; building capacities to develop and provide employment for themselves and the country at large. He also tasked the graduands to be daring, creative and innovative in identifying problems in our community; and as well provide solutions that would make life easier for all.

“Think outside the box and go the extra mile to achieve your dreams because nothing good comes easy and the first step is always the difficult one,” the IMT Member added. Mr Dan Amoah, Managing Director, Chase Petroleum Ghana Limited said the use of IT was influencing performance and learning agendas in the majority of organisational sectors including manufacturing, education, and healthcare.

He said the integration of IT and education had enabled developed nations to use knowledge competitively; as they have also introduced technical innovations that made life easier and have turned their economies around significantly. Mr Amoah therefore, encouraged government and all stakeholders in the educational industry to identify targets that would re-examine our educational curriculum at all levels, thus from pre-school to tertiary education; to integrate actively with IT.

Mr Olutola Oluwagbenga Akinsola, the Overall Best Student and Valedictorian, shared with vivid memories the hard work and sacrifice that graduates had invested in their respective program of studies.

He expressed satisfaction with the intense support from the staff and faculty members, adding that “the enabling learning environment and active academic support is a contributing factor to the excellence I have exhibited as a valedictorian”.
