The Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) has announced a temporary lane reduction on the north-south bound carriageway of the Madina-Accra road and vice versa at the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange from Sunday, June 22, 2025.
The exercise which is expected to last for four months is to facilitate the construction of a central pier as part of the expansion works of the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange Bridge in relation to the extension of lanes on the Tema-Accra motorway.
A statement issued by the GHA on Thursday, June 19, said the lane reduction under the bridge on the Madina to Accra section is necessary to provide safe working space for construction personnel and to ensure the continued safety of all road users.
"The Ghana Highway Authority, acting on behalf of the Ministry of Roads and Highways, wishes to inform the public and all road users of an upcoming traffic management arrangement as part of the ongoing construction works on the Accra-Tema Motorway and Extensions Project(19.5km)," the statement read.
"To facilitate central pier construction works for the expansion of the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange Bridge, the number of lanes on the North-South bound carriageway (Madina to Accra direction) and vice versa will be temporarily reduced from four (4) lanes to three (3)," it added.
The statement urged motorists to exercise caution, follow directional signs and cooperate with traffic management officials throughout the duration of the work.
