A 27-year-old ex-convict was on Thursday sentenced to 12 months imprisonment by the Mpraeso Circuit Court for stealing a quantity of okro.
The ex-convict, Kwaku Boateng, who is also a porter at the Nkawkaw lorry park, pleaded guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, Detective Police Inspector Christian Apronti told the court that the complainant had been experiencing regular theft
from his okro farm at Abrodiem, a suburb of Nkawkaw and kept watch over the farm.
He said on March 02 Boateng emerged from a nearby bush and started harvesting the okro.
The prosecutor said the complainant came out from his hide- out and tried to arrest the convict but he escaped and was later arrested with assistance from his friends.
