Single Parent Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), has presented a 30-million cedi assistance package to 140 AIDS orphans in basic schools in the Offinso District.<br><br>
Under the package, school children would be supplied with school uniforms, furniture, shoes, exercise books, pens, pencils and their school fees would also be paid. Mrs Mary Owusu Antwi, the Executive Director of the NGO, made the presentation at Offinso on Monday said the gesture was part of efforts to assist poor and socially disadvantaged children.<br><br>She said apart from the orphans, the NGO was also taking care of 277 children with single parenthood and said three of them were in the Senior Secondary School. Mrs Antwi also said the NGO had started a vocational school to train single parents, especially mothers in soap and pomade making so that they could earn an income to enable them take care of themselves and their children. He appeal philanthropists and organisations to support NGOs engaged in charity work.
