The Sekyere Central District Assembly approved an estimated total revenue of GH¢2,738,718 for the 2010 Financial year during its last ordinary meeting for the year on Tuesday at Nsuta.
Out of this amount, GH¢191,718 is expected to be generated internally with the rest of GH¢2,547,000 constituting Central Government grant which include District Assembly Common Fund, HIPC Fund, Member of Parliament's
Constituency Project Fund and other interventions.
The Assembly approved an estimated expenditure of GH¢2,738,718 for the same period. Out of this amount, recurrent expenditure was GH¢552,718 representing 20%, while GH¢2,184,000 representing 80% is to be spent on capital projects.
Mr. Ebenezer Akuoko Frimpong, the District Chief Executive appealed to the Assembly members to liaise with the relevant stakeholders in their
communities to identify their priority needs to be included in the Assembly's Medium Term Development Plan.
The Assembly expressed concern about the nefarious activities of Chain Saw Operators in the District in spite of the various measures put in place to check their activities.
To this end, the Assembly urged members of the house to educate the local communities to report chain saw operators found in their farms and forest reserves to the Assembly for disciplinery action to be taken.
They asked the District Forest Officer to furnish the Assembly with the names of all Timber Contractors holding timber concessions in the District, their Trade Marks, the specific areas of their operations, the type of trees they are suppose to log, the number of such trees and the period of their operations.
The Assembly called for the setting up of Health Management Committees in the various Health facilities in the District to solve reported issues of mal-administration by some health personnel which has led to the closure of some health facilities, low patronage of some health facilities and the lack of qualified staff in the health sector.
The Assembly decided to concentrate on the construction of public toilets at lorry parks and market centres, saying it is an obligation for
every landlord to construct a household toilet in the premises.
