Right Reverend James Godly, Presiding Bishop of Christ Harvest Nations Ministries (CHNM) International, has reiterated the call on parents to take keen interest in the upbringing of their
children.
He expressed regret that moral decadence in the society could largely be blamed on bad parenting and parental neglect.
Speaking at a day's Dialogue with Children organised for pupils of the Dawhenya Methodist School at Dawhenya in the Dangme West District, Bishop Godly charged parents not to shirk their responsibility of nurturing their children in the fear of God.
The programme dubbed: "Operation Tête-à-Tête 2009," was jointly organised by Caring Arms, Ghana, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) and
CHNM to sensitise the children on the need to stay in school and avoid delinquency.
It was on the broad theme: "The Role of Parents and Educators In The Eradication Of Child Delinquency."
The Presiding Bishop urged the pupils to take their studies seriously, in order not to allow the investments of their parents in their education to go waste.
By so doing, he said, they would grow into responsible adults, and take over the mantle of leadership in future.
Ms Joan Ayeh Barimeus, Founder and Director of the NGO said regular dialogue with the pupils would go a long way to curb streetism among the
youth.
The pupils, in a sketch titled "Say No To Drugs," highlighted the dangers of drug abuse, and advised their peers to abstain from the act.
More than 800 pupils of the school were later presented with gifts.
