The Peruvian Firemen Group said Friday they handled 121 emergencies in the capital city Lima and Callao, west of Lima, on Christmas Eve.
According to the latest report, 88 of the cases were medical emergencies, 26 were caused by fires and 7 were traffic accidents.
The first emergency call, received shortly after midnight, was a fire accident at 35 km of the Panamericana Sur highway, in Lurin district.
The fire caused no injuries, but inflicted material damages. About one minute later, a medical emergency was reported in San Juan de
Lurigancho district. In Ate, three traffic accidents were reported, with four more registered
in Carabayllo, Lince, Santiago de Surco and San Juan de Lurigancho. The firemen said the last three calls were received on Friday morning. The calls were made due to health problems.
