At least 81 people died in Central America during Christmas celebrations, according to information reaching here on Friday.
In Honduras, at least 32 people died on Christmas, said the country's police spokesman Daniel Molina.
In Guatemala, some 20 people died in different incidents on that day, including 17 men and three women, the National Civil Police (PNC) reported,
adding that another 12 people were injured, most of them by gunfire.
According to the PNC, there were at least 50 traffic accidents and six fires reported on Friday.
El Salvador saw 19 deaths and 88 injuries during celebrations, among which 13 died from violence, the police and civil protection agency said on Friday.
However, the country's death toll in 2009 was lower than the 22 registered on the same day last year, said the Salvadorian police.
In Nicaragua, eight people died on Christmas, four of whom were killed in traffic accidents, the country's police and press reported.
Panama registered as many as 80 traffic accidents, in which two people were killed, bringing this year's traffic related deaths to 425 as of Christmas.
