Casablanca has hosted in June the vernissage of Prête-moi ton-rêve, a major travelling exhibition of contemporary African art that will travel across 6 African capitals whilst bringing together some thirty world famous African artists like ABDOULAYE KONATÉ, EL ANATSUI, WILLIAM KENTRIDGE, CHÉRI SAMBA, BARTHÉLÉMY TOGUO, OUATTARA WATTS, SOLY CISSÉ…
The collective exhibition began in Casablanca in June and will last twelve months, during which time it will stop in six cities on the continent: DAKAR, ABIDJAN, LAGOS, ADDIS ABABA, CAPE TOWN AND MARRAKECH. The creators of the event, la FONDATION POUR LE DÉVELOPPEMENT DE LA CULTURE CONTEMPORAINE AFRICAINE (FDCCA) aim to give recognition to these African artists in their home of origin and not just elsewhere in the world.
This first ambitious project brings together more than 100 previously unseen creations produced by the artists during residencies prior to the event, together with some of their most iconic pieces on loan from artists or galleries.
The exhibition will remain in Casablanca until the end of July and then make its way TO THE MUSÉE DES CIVILISATIONS NOIRES IN DAKAR MID-DECEMBER.
