Vietnam's imports from Spain in the first nine months of this year went up 7.5 percent year-on-year to 130.75 million U.S. dollars, according to the information center of Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade on Wednesday.
Imports of pharmaceutical products increased 141 percent year- on-year to 10 million U.S. dollars. Medicine materials were up 174 percent
year-on-year to 11.7 million U.S. dollars.
Meanwhile, imports of automobiles, chemical products, computers and electronic products declined.
In the first nine months, machinery, equipment and spare parts of Spain topped the list of import basket valued at 23.43 million dollars. Steel of
all kinds came second with more than 14 million dollars, said the center.
In 2008, the two-way trade between Vietnam and Spain reached 1. 59 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 24 percent, according to
the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and Economy in Ho Chi Minh City of Vietnam.
Of the total, Vietnam exported goods to Spain worth 1.43 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 25 percent and imported 160 million U.S. dollars, said the chamber.
