MTN Ghana, in partnership with the Association of Spouses of Heads of Missions (ASOHOM), hosted the 2025 Diplomatic Charity Fashion Gala at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra, merging cultural celebration with development. The high-profile event brought together members of the diplomatic corps, private sector leaders, and creative industry stakeholders in support of philanthropic initiatives targeting gender equality and poverty reduction.
Headlined by internationally acclaimed Ghanaian musician and Grammy nominee Rocky Dawuni, the gala featured performances and a curated fashion showcase by top Ghanaian designers, including Seemee, Victoria Grace, Yaayaa, and Complex Department. The event served as a platform to promote culture, commerce, and social responsibility.
ASOHOM President Malika Mene, who is also the spouse of the Secretary-General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), noted that this year’s gala focused on raising funds for development initiatives aligned with two critical Sustainable Development Goals: gender equality (SDG 5) and poverty reduction (SDG 1).
“This year’s Diplomatic Fashion Gala is more than a celebration of art and culture. It is a fundraiser with a clear mission: to support NGOs providing real solutions to Ghana’s pressing social challenges,” Madam Mene stated. “We recognize the collective strength of our diplomatic community, and events like this allow us to channel that strength into lasting impact,” she added.
She expressed gratitude to MTN Ghana for its continued support, emphasizing the importance of private sector partnerships in advancing social causes.
“We are deeply thankful to our sponsors, and especially to MTN Ghana, whose collaboration has helped make this initiative possible,” she added.
MTN Ghana’s involvement reflects the company’s broader corporate social responsibility strategy and its alignment with AfCFTA’s vision of inclusive, sustainable development across Africa.
The 2025 Diplomatic Charity Fashion Gala reinforced the value of cultural exchange as a tool for building bridges between communities, while also mobilizing resources for grassroots development efforts in Ghana.
