The Atebubu branch of the Brong-Ahafo Catholic Cooperative Society for Development Limited (BACCSOD) in the Bono East Region says it has provided financial support to 114 farmer and trader groups to expand their economic activities.
The beneficiaries are spread across 19 communities, including the New konkrompe, Jato Zongo, Abour, Akokoa, Famfour, Sabidi, Kumfia, Fakwasi, Kokofu, Garadima and other farming communities.
Mrs Alice Kupour, the General Manager of the Atebubu branch of the BACCSOD, disclosed this when addressing the Ninth Annual General Meeting at Atebubu and urged the customers to use the Mobile App and USSD Codes.
She said: "With the mobile app they can easily conduct banking transactions like withdrawals and deposits in the comfort of their homes", urging them to increase their shares to benefit from credit facilities.
Mrs Kupour said the branch recorded good performance in members deposits, loans, investments, net surplus between 2023 and 2024 financial year, saying there had also been a comparative increase in their assets between 2020 and 2024.
She commended the management and staff for their dedication, commitment and hard work and urged them to continue for the growth and development of the BACCSOD.
Mrs Kupour said the branch also provided financial assistance totaling GH29,900 to individuals and organizations, saying an amount of GHC121,387.52, representing 15 percent of their net surplus had been proposed for the payment of dividends for the 2024 financial year.
She mentioned challenges, including capitalization as well as bad loan recovery hampering the operations of the branch, unable to expand and undertake capital projects as well.
"Despites all the odds the Atebubu BACCSOD anticipate to build the capacity of their staff, board, and committeemembers to deliver good services, improve and strengthen internal controls to minimize risk and to embark on an effective loan recovery programme", she stated.
Mr Mathew Alignoi, the Atebubu branch Manager of the BACCSOD, expressed appreciation to the shareholders and customers for their loyalty and urged the people in the area to transact business with them.
He also advised the BACCSOD mobile bankers to demonstrate commitment and transparency in their operations.
Later in an interview, Mr Emmanuel Gyan, the Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Atebubu branch of the BACCSOD praised the institution's excellent customer care and service, which had improved trust of customers and shareholders.
He advised the people in the farming communities to adopt the culture of savings and do business with the BACCSOD.
