The initiative aims to em­power women by enhancing their online business capabilities and developing a supportive community for growth and collaboration.

It is part of AngloGold’s Women in e-commerce project under its Enterprise and Skills Development Programme, a 10-year Socio-Economic Devel­opment Plan (SEDP) that was launched in the community on Monday.

According to the Acting Community Relations Manager of the mining company, Daniel Arthur-Bentum, the selected entrepreneurs would be offered the needed assistance and literacy to transition into the digital mar­ketplace.
    

“Through training sessions, participants will learn how to effectively utilise various e-com­merce platforms to reach a broad­er audience and increase sales,” he underlined in an interview.

He said the project would also make them familiar with digital technology, a vital component for market acceleration.

In this regard, he said,the Obuasi Mine and Absa Bank Ghana wouldorganise a series of workshops and mentorship opportunities to equip entrepre­neurs with the skills necessary to adapt to rapidly changing digital landscapes to ensure they remain competitive and successful.

He pointed out that the devel­opment envisioned to enhance networking and would facilitate the identification of networking opportunities, as well as collab­oration among women entrepre­neurs, allowing them to share best practices and learn from one another’s experiences.

At AngloGold Ashanti, he said, “we mine to empower people and societies. We do this by empowering women entre­preneurs which we believe it is essential for building sustainable communities.”

He said the women in e-com­merce project was part of a broader Business Acceleration and Sustainability (BAST) pro­gram being implemented under a Memorandum of Understand­ing between the mining compa­ny and ABSA Ghana.

“And, that it reflected the mining company’s commitment to developing and promoting inclusive economic development and supporting local commu­nities by addressing the unique challenges facing women in business and leveraging tech­nology. This initiative looks to create lasting change and oppor­tunity,” he stated.
