At the ceremony held on Thursday February 1st ,2024 at the Yara Ghana Limited warehouse in Tamale, four retailers were lauded for their exceptional performance on the Yara Connect platform.
These retailers demonstrated unwavering dedication to serving farmers and promoting Yara fertilizers, earning the highest points on the application through their exemplary sales efforts.
The award winners which included Mohammed Yussif Baba, CEO of Hadara Enterprise in Wa, Bukari Amina, owner and operator of Saka Enterprise in Bawku, Hajia Hawa Bolnaaba, owner and caretaker of Bolnaaba Enterprise in Bawku were each awarded with motorcycles, whiles Felix Akwaara, operator and owner of Abowine Enterprise in Bolgatanga received a motorbike as a token of appreciation for their exceptional contributions.
Speaking at the event, Ms. Theresa Randolph, Managing Director of Yara Ghana Limited, reiterated the company’s steadfast commitment to driving positive change and innovation in Ghana’s agricultural sector.
“At Yara Ghana, we believe in the transformative power of technology to enhance productivity, sustainability, and economic growth,” she affirmed. “The Yara Connect application is a testament to our dedication to leveraging digital solutions to benefit farmers, retailers, and the entire agricultural value chain.”
Ms. Randolph emphasized the pivotal role of retailers in influencing farmers’ decisions and driving adoption of high-quality fertilizers. “Retailers are the backbone of our distribution network, serving as trusted advisors to farmers across the country,” she stated. “Through the Yara Connect platform, we are empowering retailers with the tools and resources they need to better serve their customers and promote sustainable agricultural practices.”
She also underscored Yara Ghana’s commitment to fostering collaboration and partnership.
“We recognize that addressing the complex challenges facing agriculture requires a collective effort,” she explained. “That’s why we are proud to partner with retailers, distributors, and other stakeholders to co-create solutions that drive growth, resilience, and prosperity.”
Ms. Randolph expressed her optimism for the future of agriculture in Ghana. “With initiatives like Yara Connect and our ongoing support for farmers and retailers, we are laying the foundation for a more sustainable and inclusive agricultural sector.
Mr. Kwame Okyere, Digital Value Chain Solutions Manager at Yara Ghana, reiterated the company’s unwavering commitment to the welfare and success of farmers, distributors, and retailers.
“At Yara Ghana, we recognize the pivotal role that retailers play in the agricultural value chain,” he emphasized. “Our goal with the Yara Connect application is not only to streamline transactions but also to empower retailers with tools and resources to thrive in today’s digital age. “He stated.
Mr. Okyere highlighted the multifunctional nature of the Yara Connect platform, describing it as a versatile solution that caters to the diverse needs of stakeholders. “Beyond its role as a sales loyalty tool, the Yara Connect application serves as an information hub for farmers, providing valuable insights and recommendations for crop management,” he explained. “Additionally, it serves as a marketplace, connecting retailers with a broader network of suppliers and customers.”
He emphasized Yara Ghana’s commitment to accessibility and inclusivity.
“The Yara Connect App is not limited to a select few; it is open and accessible to everyone,” he affirmed. “Our aim is to democratize access to information and resources, empowering retailers and farmers across Ghana to unlock their full potential.”

Mr. Felix Akwara, one of the esteemed awardees and Managing Director of Abowine Ventures in the Upper East region, expressed his gratitude for the honor bestowed upon him by Yara Ghana. Reflecting on his journey with the Yara Connect application, Mr. Akwara shared insights into his dedication and efforts.
“When I first heard about the Yara Connect App, I was skeptical like many of my colleagues. But upon delving into it, I realized its immense potential,” he revealed. “I made a concerted effort to integrate the application into my business operations, and the results have been remarkable.”
Mr. Akwara proudly disclosed that he scanned over 9,000 Yara fertilizer bags through the application, a testament to his unwavering commitment and diligence. “The application not only streamlined our processes but also opened doors to new opportunities,” he elaborated. “The ability to earn points and be recognized for our efforts has been incredibly motivating.”
He emphasized the broader implications of the Yara Connect platform beyond individual recognition. “Beyond the awards, the Yara Connect App has revolutionized how we conduct business,” he emphasized. “It has empowered us to reach more farmers, provide them with high-quality fertilizers, and ultimately contribute to the agricultural sector’s growth.”
Mr. Akwara encouraged his fellow retailers to embrace the Yara Connect application fully. “I urge my colleagues to see beyond skepticism and embrace this innovative tool,” he urged. “Together, we can leverage technology to drive positive change, enhance crop yields, and elevate Ghana’s agricultural landscape to new heights.”
Hajia Hawa Bolnaaba, another awardee, commended Yara Ghana’s management for their commitment to the Ghanaian farmer and emphasized the transformative impact of the Yara Connect platform. She stated, “This recognition is a testament to Yara Ghana’s dedication to supporting retailers like us in our efforts to serve farmers better.
