The Public Procurement Authority (PPA) has received a Quality Choice Prize Award in Berlin, Germany, from the European Society for Quality Research (ESQR) for its innovative initiatives.
The award was presented to Mr A. B. Adjei, the Chief Executive Officer of the Authority by the ESQR Board members.
The award is in recognition of the PPA's prominent initiatives and the demonstration of exceptional leadership in quality management that have delivered significant savings to Ghana's economy.
The ESQR's Quality Choice Prize, organized by the European Society for Quality Research (ESQR), undertakes a comprehensive assessment of the initiatives and strategies that business leaders across the world implement in their companies and organizations.
The annual awards acknowledged the efforts of exceptional and talented employers and employees and provides motivation for continuous progress.
In his remarks, Mr Adjei underscored the need for world leaders to recognize their place as critical change agents and attach a deeper commitment and passion to the delivery of their work.
He said procurement had become an important instrument to effect change and bring about economic transformation in developing countries.
Some PPA's officials who attended the ceremony included the Vice Board Chairman Mr Sammuel Richard Nee Baidoo, and two other Board Members Mrs Ernestina Jemima Eshun and Mr Emmanuel Yaw Boakye.
The Convention and Awards ceremony held on July 7, 2019 at the Grand Hyatt Berlin also recognized other institutions for their meritorious services to humanity.
Other award winners over the years include the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Bolivia, State Bank of India, Chapman University (USA), Bedford College (the United Kingdom), Delta Airlines (USA) and BMW Group from Germany.
