Bargain hunting in four counters in the banking and telecommunication sectors led a rebound at today’s session. Market capitalisation rose by 0.72% to settle at GH¢62.40 billion while the benchmark index increased by 0.94% to close with a 2.04% year-to-date return.
Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (+5.56%), Access Bank Limited (+1.47%) and Standard Chartered Bank (+0.05%) pushed the financial index up by 0.01% to close at 2,207.01 with a -4.48% year-to-date return.
Manufacturing stocks recorded no gains or losses for the fifth consecutive session, closing with a -18.56% YTD Return.
Activity levels surged with 907,738 shares valued at GH¢1,592,706.38 changing hands from 3,487,072 shares valued at GH¢4,415,389.76 in the previous session. Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI) dominated trades by volume, accounting for 64.95% of total volume traded while GCB Bank Limited (GCB) accounted for 91.07% of total value traded.
