SVOD provider Iflix has acquired programming from Viacom International Media Networks. Iflix, which announced its expansion into Africa in June, will carry content from Viacom brands including Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, MTV, VH1, MTV Base and BET. Shows include iCarly, Broad City, Pimp My Ride, Awkward, The Fabulous Live Of, Behind the Story, Nellyville and Punk’d.
Viacom also announced that an existing agreement with South Africa-based ShowMax from 2015 has been expanded to include 500 hours of Nickelodeon programming, including Paw Patrol, Dora the Explorer and SpongeBob SquarePants. It has also taken 150 hours of international and local content from other VIMN brands, including MTV, MTV Shuga, Comedy Central and BET. Shows include South Park, Key & Peele, Roast Battle Africa, Being Mary Jane and Real Husbands of Hollywood.
VIMN has also expanded the reach of its apps, such as MTV Play in Germany and Austria, and launched a fully localised MTV Snapchat Discover channel in France. In Spain, MTV and Nick Jr launched on Orange in June, providing viewers with shows such as Paw Patrol, Dora the Explorer and Nella the Princess Knight as well as live events.
