The Member of Parliament-elect for the Mfantseman Constituency, Mr Aquinas Tawiah Quansah has appealed to Ghanaians to let partisan politics pass on with the just-ended general election to enable them to move ahead in unison to develop the nation.
"With the elections over, let us do away with partisan politics and its rivalry and unite to build a better Ghana", Mr Quansah, who is also the Deputy Central Regional Minister has said.
He made the appeal at the third ordinary meeting of the Fifth Session of the Sixth Assembly at Saltpond.
Mr Quansah appealed to Assembly members to cooperate with their MPs to bring the needed development to their electoral areas.
"It doesn't matter whether the Mp belongs to your party or not, you need to cooperate with him and let him or her known the needs of the people from your electoral area," he said, and added that they would not be able to achieve much for their areas if they sidelined their MP whose party was in government.
The MP-elect proposed the establishment of a Welfare Fund for Assembly members to help them in times of need and pledged GHC 10,000 as seed money for the fund.
He was supported by Mr Allotey Jacobs, Central Regional NDC Propaganda Secretary who also pledged GHC 5,000.
Mr Henry Kweku Hayfron, Mfantseman Municipal Chief Executive expressed his gratitude to the assembly members for their cooperation during his four years' stay as Municipal Chief Executive.
He said the assembly had achieved a lot under the Better Ghana agenda and said "without your cooperation, we would not have achieved that much".
Mr Hayfron expressed his appreciation to the people of the municipality for the peaceful and orderly manner they conducted the December 7 elections and urged them to ensure that nothing was done to disturb the peace after the elections.
The MCE commended the staff of the assembly for topping the rest of the Region in the District Development Fund assessment for three consecutive times.
