The Member Of Parliament (MP) elect for the Wassa East Constituency in the Western Region, Mr. Isaac Adjei-Mensah, on Friday cautioned his colleagues not to underestimate the intelligence of their constituents.
He asked those of them, who in desperate moves to be elected as MPs, made mind-boggling promises to their constituents, to fulfill the promises.
Mr. Adjei-Mensah, who is the Board Chairman of the Western Region Lands Commission, won the 2012 parliamentary election on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He told the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Sekondi that he campaigned on four thematic areas in line with NDC manifesto - education, health, agriculture and accessible roads.
Mr. Adjei-Mensah said he would redeem his promises to his constituents saying: "those people are not stupid and if you joke with them they will show you the exit next time".
The MP-elect said he would establish a road fund and solicit financial support from mining companies and non-governmental organisations in the area towards the rehabilitation of roads in the district.
Mr. Adjei-Mensah said he would also ensure the building of another Senior High School in the area, and the establishment of an educational endowment fund to promote education and the construction of more community health posts.
He advised farmers to form cooperatives in order to access financial support from banks and other financial institutions to boost agriculture.
