Mr Oppey Abbey, was on Sunday elected the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirant for Awutu-Senya West Constituency, in the party’s primaries at Awutu Bontrase.
He polled 192 votes, to defeat Mr Justice Quaye, a banker, who had 138 votes, and Mr Patrick Amoakwa, who obtained 60 votes, in balloting that was supervised by Mr Haruna Esserku, member of the NPP National Executive Committee.
Mr Abbey thanked the delegates for electing him to contest for the seat, and promised to collaborate with them to ensure victory for the NPP in the December 7 elections.
He asked party supporters to woo the electorate to vote for the NPP in December.
Mr Esserku called on party supporters to bury their differences and campaign for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the NPP flag bearer in Election 2012, and Mr Abbey, so that they could win the polls.
