Polish President Lech Kaczynski congratulated German President Horst Koehler on the latter's re- election over the phone on Wednesday, Presidential Minister Mariusz Handzlik told the Polish news agency PAP.
The minister said that the two leaders agreed that President Koehler would pay his first visit to Poland most likely in July.
Handzlik added that the two presidents discussed the current state of Polish-German relations and declared they would strive for achieving the best possible relations between Warsaw and Berlin. Handzlik stressed that the presidents shared the opinion that Polish-German relations were of key importance for entire Europe.
The 66-year-old Koehler was re-elected for the next five-year tenure at the end of May.
