Sheikh Saeed Abubakari Zakaria, head of the Ambariya Muslim Community in Tamale, has advised Alhaji Abdulai Haruna Friday, Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), to work hard to change the sinking image of the area.
He said "You have the glorious opportunity to unite the people in the metropolis irrespective of their political and religious backgrounds, considering your humility and approach to issues."
Sheikh Zakaria said the President has made a good choice to occupy the position of MCE and the people believed that the tenure of Alhaji Friday would see transformation of the metropolis.
The religious leader gave the advice when he led a 15-member delegation of the Ambariya Muslim Community in Tamale to congratulate Alhaji Friday on his confirmation as MCE by the assembly and to discuss matters that would help promote development of the metropolis.
Sheikh Zakaria said the leadership of the Ambariya Mosque in Tamale would collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure peace for the development of the metropolis.
He advised the MCE to be guided by the principles and teachings of Allah in dealing with people, which according to him was the only way to unite the people for development.
Alhaji Friday appealed to all religious leaders and other opinion leaders in the metropolis to use their influence to ensure peace in the area.
The MCE said he would operate an open door administration and called on the people to offer him advice and suggestions for the transformation of the metropolis into a haven of businesses.
