The Lebanese Shiite armed group Hezbollah has been accused of masterminding attacks in Egypt, the official MENA news agency reported on Wednesday.
The group was suspected of recruiting people and making explosives to carry out attacks and deploying elements at Egypt- Gaza border and the strategic Suez Canal, said an accusation received by Attorney General Abdel-Meguid Mahmoud.
Moreover, the militant group was also accused of setting up cover-up businesses and spreading the Shiite Islam in the Sunni- dominated country.
Forty-nine people have been arrested in Egypt for their alleged connection with Hezbollah, the report added.
During the 22-day Gaza war, the Lebanese group has accused Egypt of collaborating with Israel by closing its Rafah border crossing, Gaza's sole gateway that bypasses the Jewish state.
