Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, Flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Wednesday promised to set up a credible pension scheme for farmers when voted into power.
Nana Akuffo-Addo made the promise when he addressed separate rallies at Aworowa, Subinso, Nchiraa, Jama and Wenchi as part of his seven-day tour of Brong Ahafo.
The Flag bearer stated that since agriculture was the bedrock of the economy, there was the need for more realistic policies to secure the future of farmers.
He said this would encourage the youth to engage in the vocation for increased food production.
Nana Akufo-Addo assured government employees, especially teachers, of excellent working conditions to motivate them to help produce a sound and vibrant human resource base for accelerated national development.
"Under my administration, the government will increase the current 37 teacher training colleges and make them function more effectively and efficiently to meet the required human resource base needed for national development," he said.
At Wenchi, the NPP presidential hopeful said the fortunes of the NPP in December depended much on the foot soldiers and urged constituency executives to canvass for more votes at the grassroots.
He said the NPP still cherished the Danquah-Busia tradition and stressed the importance to explain its ideologies and philosophies to the people.
Nana Akufo-Addo said the NPP was a "big family under a great elephant" devoid of tribal and ethnic sentiments and debunked the wrong perception among some Ghanaians that the party was dominated by Ashantis and Akuapems.
Mr John Alan Kyeremanten, former presidential aspirant, urged Ghanaians to appreciate the good works of the government by retaining it in power to ensure a more remarkable improvement in living conditions.
