Thomas Partey has provided hope on his injury situation ahead of the midweek UEFA Champions League clash against Real Madrid.
The midfielder was substituted in the game with Brentford last Saturday evening raising alarms ahead of the vital quarter-final second leg with Los Blancos.
Mikel Arteta said that he had felt something but did not want to expand any further on the issue in greater detail nor whether he would be okay to play against Carlo Ancelotti's side.
Speaking in his post-match press conference, the Arsenal boss said: "He felt something so we didn't want to take any risks."
When asked if he would be ok to face Real Madrid, he added: "We don't know, I haven't spoken to the doctors yet. So they will check him now and see how he is."
However, in what will come as a boost and perhaps some relief to supporters, football.london did witness Partey speaking with reporters after the game in the Emirates Stadium mixed zone.
Typically players who have suffered bad injuries or are requiring significant treatment do not engage in post-match interviews and so therefore some encouragement can be grasped from this.
Following the 1-1 draw against Brentford a game in which Partey scored, eyes turn towards the Champions League quarter-final second leg at the Bernabeu. The Gunners lead the tie 3-0 after the first leg and will look to complete the job.
Aswell as Partey, Arteta also has an injury worry over Jorginho, who was forced off the pitch in the closing stages of the game against Brentford.
When asked if the problem was with his ribs, he said: "It looks like it, so I don't exactly know. But yeah, the problem is breathing, so I'd say he could not carry on."
