Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has assured Ghanaians that the national team will not relent in their quest to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be hosted in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
The Leicester City forward was in superb form during Ghana’s recent World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar, where the team scored a combined eight goals.
In a message to fans, the 33-year-old Ayew acknowledged the team's past struggles, particularly their disappointing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign, but insisted their focus was now fully on World Cup qualification.
“We're not giving up! We're focused on the task ahead, and we're confident that together, we can achieve our goal,” Ayew stated. “We'll do everything in our power to make Ghana proud and bring joy to your hearts.”
Ayew further pledged that he and his teammates would work hard to secure positive results in the remaining qualifiers to ensure Ghana's place in the global tournament.
“Although we faced challenges in the AFCON qualifiers, we're committed to turning things around and making you proud.
We're working diligently to enhance our game, ensuring we secure the necessary results in the remaining matches to qualify for the World Cup,” he added.
The Black Stars skipper expressed gratitude for the unwavering support from Ghanaians and emphasised that their encouragement has been a source of inspiration for the team.
“On behalf of my colleagues, I'd like to extend our sincerest gratitude for your unwavering support during our recent 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar. Your infectious energy, passion, and loyalty inspire us, and we're deeply honored to represent this great nation,” Ayew said.
