With the festive season fast approaching, GOtv viewers will be spoilt for choice when it comes to football action in the Premier League! A break for what? That’s when football is cooking the most, so sign up for the Supa+ package to avoid missing out.
The action begins straight after Christmas Day on Thursday, 26 December as Manchester City take on Everton at the Etihad Stadium. With the Citizens facing some struggles in form, it will be a chance for them to enter 2025 with a victory.
It won’t be without difficulty though, because the Toffees have got some tricks under their belts with their African starlets. Senegal’s Idrissa Gueye has been holding his own as a defensive midfielder and his stats for this season have indeed been impressive.
At 35, many might think that his time is up in professional football, but the African is proving all his doubters wrong because he’s still incredibly fit regardless of age.
“I don’t do anything special. I just stick to my routines, follow a balanced diet, and always try to get a good night’s sleep as that’s vital for recovery, especially with the number of games we play. To enjoy a long career, a healthy lifestyle is crucial,” says Gueye.
On Boxing Day, Manchester United are set for a tricky trip to the Molineux Stadium to face Wolverhampton Wanders. With their new coach Ruben Amorim at the wheel, Ivorian forward Amad Diallo will be in the spotlight on the wing to give Wolves a run for their money.
Former Manchester United striker coach Benni McCarthy has warned the opposition about Diallo’s threat and says that more attention needs to be given to how talented he is.
“Amad Diallo. An incredible, incredible player, still little known,” says the Bafana Bafana legend. “He defends and attacks well, always makes the best decisions and knows how to score goals.”
Another headlining fixture which is the last one of Boxing Day is the clash between Liverpool and Leicester City at Anfield. Egypt’s Mohamed Salah is in great form at the moment, despite there being talks of him making a move to play football in Saudi Arabia.
“The most important thing is that the team wins the game. I’m always happy to score goals and to give assists so I just need to carry on,” says Salah.
Still playing coy on his contract that will be up at the end of the season, Salah might just convince Arne Slot to keep him on for a few more years.
Wednesday, 1 January 2025 is the New Year’s clash that Premier League fans will be eager to watch when Brentford take on Arsenal at the Gtech Community Stadium. With the Gunners having issues with their squad depth, the Bees will be hoping to capitalise on their weaknesses.
DR Congo forward Yoane Wissa has pulled up impressive numbers this season in the league, scoring seven goals and providing an assist so far.
“First of all, I never believed I would make it as a professional football player, let alone play in the Premier League, so to have the chance to play in this league is crazy,” says the baller.
“To play for DR Congo and to play in the Premier League is a dream come true. To have reached 100 games [in the Premier League] is such a massive thing, so I think my family will be very proud of what I have achieved.”
Will Wissa keep making his family proud against Arsenal too? Well, with GOtv you’ll be able to see your favourite football stars in action! Festive football is where it’s at with your football best friend!
