Ghanaian bodybuilding sensation Martinson Ampadu, affectionately known as the "Rock of Africa," emerged as the undisputed champion at the Africa Muscle Super Show held over the weekend in Accra.
The highly anticipated event, drew bodybuilders from across the African continent, including participants hailing from Nigeria, Togo, and Cameroon. The competitors vied not only for substantial cash prizes but also for the coveted pro-card, a gateway to professional bodybuilding.
Ampadu's journey to victory commenced in the men's physique category, where he clinched the top spot. However, he didn't stop there; he surged ahead to claim the ultimate prize as the overall champion of the bodybuilding extravaganza.
Reflecting on his triumph at the Africa Muscle Super Show, orchestrated by the World Amateur Bodybuilding Association (WABBA) Ghana, Ampadu expressed his elation amidst the fierce competition. He remarked, "The competition was formidable, but my sole objective was victory. I am immensely gratified to have achieved this feat, and I extend my heartfelt appreciation to my dedicated fans, whose unwavering support, both moral and financial, enabled me to reach this pinnacle."
With his sights set on the future, Ampadu pledged to continue his relentless pursuit of success, harbouring aspirations of securing more accolades for Ghana in forthcoming competitions. He affirmed, "I am already anticipating the opportunity to adorn Ghana with further medals, and I remain committed to ceaseless hard work in my ascent to the zenith of this sport."
Van Calebs, the manager of Ampadu, lauded the athlete's remarkable performance at the championship. Calebs urged the bodybuilding community to foster more such competitions within Ghana to kindle the competitive spirit among local bodybuilders.
He remarked, "We hunger for more competitions of this calibre on our home turf. Currently, my athlete is diligently preparing for the Ghana Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (GBFA) competition, scheduled for later in September."
Calebs also extended a heartfelt call to corporate entities and individuals, inviting them to rally behind Ampadu's promising career. He emphasized Ampadu's extraordinary potential, envisioning his protege as a future luminary on the global bodybuilding stage.
Indeed, Ampadu's journey has been marked by a string of remarkable achievements this year. Notably, he secured the gold medal at the inaugural WABBA Togo Bodybuilding Championship. His influence has transcended borders, with appearances in major international competitions, including a recent triumph in the men's physique category at the 2023 Bodybuilding Championship in Indonesia.
