Accra Hearts of Oak have appointed David Dickson Ocloo as their new assistant coach with immediate effect.
The 38-year-old former Wa All Stars and Liberty Professionals gaffer holds CAF Licence A coaching certificate, as well as certificates in sports performance and video analysis.
He will also act as the interim head coach of Hearts as the club’s Board of Directors scout for a substantive coach, according to a statement issued by the the club last Sunday.
Coach Ocloo will be assisted by Samuel Nii Noi in Hearts’ preparation towards this weekend’s CAF Confederation Cup second round first leg match against AS Real Bamako of Mali in Bamako.
The release urged Coach Ocloo to transform Hearts to attain pre-eminence in Africa.
Mr Ocloo has a rich CV which includes stints with Asante Kotoko, Sahel Sporting Club of Niger and Maranatha FC in Togo.
New goalkeepers’ coach
In a related development, the Hearts board has also appointed Richard Oppong as the club’s new goalkeepers’ coach.
The 35-year-old CAF Licence B certificate holder was selected after detailed scrutiny, according to another release by the club.
Coach Oppong, who has had working stints with Red Bull Academy, Tema Youth Football Club, Vision Football Club, Right to Dream Academy and Inter Allies Football Club, did his coaching attachments with Manchester City in the English Premier League.
The club expressed optimism that his appointment would bring immense benefits to enrich the craft of the club’s goalkeepers.
“His appointment forms part of our vision to transform the team and assemble the best materials at all times,” the statement added.
