Mr. Isaac Kwame Asiamah, Minister of Youth and Sports (MOYS), has called for maximum support for the domestic league to ensure its full potential.
He said the domestic league was the epitome of football in every country and there was the need to strengthen and give it all the support it needs to strive in Ghana.
According to the Minister, the government would partner the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in order to ensure a competitive and exciting league that would attract fans to various stadia.
Speaking at the Meet the Press series in Accra, the Minister urged the GFA, to exhibit team work and transparency in their administration, as it would ensure the realisation of their dreams.
“The new leadership must note that football is a team sports and therefore team work is critical and shouldn’t become a one man show but involve all stakeholders in order to achieve the desired results that we are all aiming at,” he said.
Mr. Asiamah said Ghana was attaching so much importance to the hosting of the 2023 Africa Games and would put in the needed preparations to make it a success.
“The hosting of the 2023 all Africa games is a golden opportunity to add on our sporting infrastructures and also a golden platform for us to promote all the other disciplines.
“We would host about 25 sporting disciplines so it’s also a golden opportunity to provide support to other sporting disciplines. It would also give a life line for the development of all the disciplines,” he said.
