Treble-treble chasing Celtic could be crowned Scottish top flight champions for the eight consecutive season as early as this weekend.
After both they and Rangers won on Wednesday, the Neil Lennon's side hold a 13-points lead with just six games left.
Providing Celtic win their final Scottish Premiership pre-split game - at home to Livingston on Saturday - the championship will be theirs if Rangers lose at Motherwell on Sunday.
Three points against a side they beat at Celtic Park on the opening day would take them to 79 points with five games left, meaning Rangers would need a draw at Fir Park to reach 64 points and delay the inevitable until after the league splits.
If Celtic do clinch the crown this weekend, it will rank as the joint third earliest in their eight-in-a-row stretch. Their quickest was achieved in Brendan Rodgers' first season as they wrapped up glory with eight games to spare.
Current interim boss Lennon guided the club to their second earliest - with seven matches to go in 2013-14, his final campaign in his first stint in charge.
And he can match his feat of 2011-12 if his team secure the crown on Sunday, five games before the Premiership season ends.
Should it be delayed until after the spilt, Celtic could repeat the feat of last season by securing the title against Rangers.
A year ago, they demolished their Old Firm rivals at Celtic Park but, this time, are almost certain to face another trip to Ibrox, with the order of the five post-split fixtures to be decided after this weekend.
Celtic lost the derby at Ibrox in December, but the prospect of clinching the title in front of 49,000 Rangers fans was welcomed by Celtic midfielder Callum McGregor this week.
"Derby games always special, to go and seal a title there against your biggest rivals, who wouldn't want to do that?" he said.
Celtic won the domestic treble two years running under Lennon's predecessor Rodgers, who clinched the League Cup this season before departing for Leicester City in February.
The Scottish Cup holders face beaten League Cup finalists Aberdeen in next weekend's semi-finals, with Hearts taking on Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the other last-four tie.
Celtic have not lost a domestic cup tie since 2016 - a record Lennon will be eager to preserve.
