Ghana U20 male team lost their 2018 WAFU U20 Cup opening match against Niger by a lone goal on Friday afternoon.
Amadou Sabo Mahamadou scored the only goal of the game to give the Nigerien's a win in the match played at the Stade Municipal in Lome, Togo.
Two minutes into the second half, Mahamadou latched on to a pass and struck a shot to beat Nurudeen in post for Ghana.
Coach Jimmy Cobblah's side could have drawn level but missed all the opportunities that came their way.
The Black Satellites will face Nigeria in their next match to be played at the same venue on Wednesday.
