Renovation work at the Accra Sports Stadium, is progressing steadily, as workers battle to meet the deadline, ahead of the African Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON), which is slated for November 17 to December 1 2018.
The renovation work, which is expected to be completed in September this year, has seen some improvements in the stands and the re-grassing of the pitch.
Broken seats have been replaced with new ones, whilst those discoloured by the scorchy sun have been repainted.
A visit by the GNA Sports to the venue, saw workers replacing rusty metals, whilst workers of the Green Grass Technology, were seen working vigorously working on the pitch, to ensure it gets to required level and standard.
In addition, there has been steady progress on the new scoreboard to be mounted, as the platform on which the board would be mounted is at the finishing points.
The workers noted that, the renovation was almost 80-90% done and would be handed over to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, by the September, ahead of the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) inspection team in October.
Ghana would host seven other countries; Nigeria, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Mali and Algeria, South Africa and Zambia to complete for the enviable trophy.
