The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development would from May 12 begin an orientation programme for members of the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs).
A statement signed in Accra on Tuesday by the sector minister, Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, said the orientation programme would be carried out in collaboration with the Institute of Local Government Studies.
According to the schedule for the orientation, the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly would have the programme on May 12-13; Sunyani Municipal Assembly May 13-14; Accra Metropolitan Assembly May 16-17;
Tamale Metropolitan Assembly and Tema Metropolitan Assembly May 19-20; and Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly and Cape Coast Metropolitan
Assembly May 23-24.
It said the schedule for the MMDAs would be Greater Accra, Upper East and Upper West regions June 6-10; Volta Central and Western regions June 6-14; and Eastern, Brong Ahafo, Ashanti and Northern
regions June 6-17.
The statement asked all assembly members in the various regions to contact their respective districts for registration arrangements and venue for the orientation programme.
