The Deputy National Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress, (NDC) Mr James Kofi Fonu, has urged delegates of their impending congress to elect President Mills so that the party would win power in 2012.
He said the President has already been widely marketed throughout the country and must be given the second chance to lead the party to retain
power to continue the Better Ghana Agenda.
Mr Fonu made the call at the handing over ceremony by the old executives of the Tertiary Education Institution Network (TEIN) of University of Education Winneba (UEW) branch to new executives in Winneba at the weekend.
The programme was under the theme: “The Contribution of TEIN towards election-2012.”
He said it was wrong for some personalities to assess President Atta Mills with two and half-years in office, adding that, he was given a four-year mandate to steer the affairs of the country.
Mr John Asibe Ynyaba, out-going President of TEIN, symbolically handed over the administration of the group to the in-coming President, Mr Godwin Asamani.
The Fonu later swore the executives into office for a two-year term and led them to take the Oath of Office.
He urged the new executives to work as a team and propagate the programme and policies of the party to the people, especially their
colleagues on the campuses.
Mr Solomon Nkansah, Deputy National Propaganda Secretary of the NDC, urged delegates not to allow some individuals to use them to gain
their selfish ambitions.
He said the chances of the party to win the 2012 elections could be bleak if a new candidate became the flag bearer.
He advised members of the party to respect Former President Rawlings and his wife for their contribution towards the building of the party.
Mr Samuel Richard Ziggah, chief patron of the local TEIN, who chaired the programme, urged the executives to remain focused to the cause of the party and work towards its victory in 2012.
