The postponed District Assembly elections of 19 out of the 56 electoral areas in Techiman Municipality resumed on Tuesday at 0700 hours with a low voter turnout.
The elections were postponed due to the late arrival of voting materials from Accra.
As at 0830 hours when the Ghana News Agency (GNA) visited some of the electoral areas voters were less enthusiastic about the elections.
At the Islamic Junior High School (JHS) Polling Station in Konimase electoral area, only 137 out of 3,101 eligible voters had exercised their franchise as at 0900 hours.
Voter turnout at Islamic Primary ‘B’ Polling Station in the electoral area was also not encouraging, with 143 out of 1,985 having cast their votes as at 1015 hours, whilst at the Islamic Primary ‘A’ Polling Station had recorded 140 out of 2,565 registered voters.
When the GNA arrived at the Wangaraline Electoral Area, the Al-Kaliya Upper Primary Polling Station had registered 88 out of the 1,353 registered voters, whilst the Lower Primary Polling Station, had recorded only 82 out of the 1,394 registered voters as having voted.
The situation was the same in the Dagombaline Electoral Area as the Zongo Experimental ‘B’ Polling Station had 183 out of the 1,463 eligible voters, whilst the L/A Experimental ‘A’ had received 193 of the 1,588 voters in the area.
At the Arms Maternity Polling Station in the Hausaline Electoral Aarea, 191 out of total registered voters of 1,533 had exercised their franchise as at 1100 hours, whilst at the Baptist JHS Polling Station 136 people had cast their votes as against voter population of 1,148.
All the 19 electoral areas have received all their voting materials and no incidents was recorded at the time of filling this report.
