Mr Samuel Sarpong, Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), has appealed to the people to ensure for peace before, during and after the District Level Election in the metropolis, rescheduled for Wednesday, December 29.
To achieve this, he said, the expectation was that all stakeholders would act within the electoral laws.
This was contained in a statement he issued in Kumasi on Tuesday.
Mr Sarpong said the Kumasi Metropolitan Authority had absolute confidence in the electoral system and asked the Electoral Commission (EC)
to ensure that the poll was free, fair, transparent and credible.
Party agents should do well to report anomalies at the polling centres to the EC officials but not to take the law into their own hands to create
confusion.
He also reminded the media to maintain high standards of professionalism in their coverage of the election.
The MCE wished all the contestants well and asked them to remember that in every contest there would always be winners and losers.
Those, who do not receive the nod of voters, should accept defeat in good faith, he stressed.
