Winger fires salvo ahead of clash with the Mambas.
Nigeria forward Osaze Odemwingie has declared that his team will be much better prepared when they play against Mozambique in a crunch second place group decider in Lubango on Wednesday.
The Lokomotiv striker, who was voted man of the match in the Super Eagles single-goal victory against Benin on Saturday, insists that the team is getting stronger by the day.
“We lacked confidence after losing the first match [against Egypt], but now I believe that we’ll relax our nerves and then come out to play much better against Mozambique,” Odemwingie told Complete Sports.
“Mozambique are a team we already know well but we are looking at the current circumstances in Angola. During the qualifiers last year we drew them away and won in Nigeria, taking four points out of six from them.
“I am sure we’re going to play them with more confidence than ever before in this competition and I believe we will win the game.”
Nigeria need at least a draw against Mozambique and hope that Benin fall to Egypt in the other game to ensure their passage into the quarter-finals. They will be without captain Joseph Yobo who was injured during the game against Benin. There are reports that the Everton defender might have played his last game of the tournament after limping off with a hamstring injury.
