Mr. George Kuntu Blankson, Member of Parliament (MP) for Mfantsiman East in the Central Region, has organised a party for about 500 widows, orphans and destitute in his constituency.
Addressing the beneficiaries who ate, drank and danced to live band music, he noted that it was necessary for people who are well placed in society to extend a hand of support to the less privilege.
He said government was doing everything possible to make life bearable for Ghanaians and urged them to exercise patient and rally behind President John Atta Mills Administration.
Mr. Aquinas Tawiah Quansah, Member of Parliament for Mfantseman West said the first phase of the reconstruction of Mankessim market would be tackled this year and urged the traders to co-operate with the contractor when the project takes off.
He said arrangements were underway to link Baifikrom Water Works to the facility at Agona Kwanyarko to ensure adequate supply of water to the people.
"Mfantseman Municipality must expect some face-lift starting this year," he said.
Mr. Henry Kweku Hayford, Municipal Chief Executive advised the widows and orphans not to be discouraged in life and rather organise themselves into groups to enable them to get financial support to do business to support themselves.
