The main opposition Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist)(UCPN-M)on Friday launched its fourth phase of protests for what it calls civilian supremacy.
A meeting of the party office bearers decided to expedite the month-long "publicity" and "exposure" campaigns as announced earlier at the
end of the third phase of protests on Tuesday.
The party has set a slogan -- Let us all patriots and republicans unite -- for the fourth phase of protests to give momentum to the ongoing
movement with the theme of national independence.
According to UCPN-M Spokesperson Dina Nath Sharma, the party will hold mass rallies in several parts of the country including in the areas
allegedly encroached upon by India.
Earlier, the UCPN-M had decided to expose what they call "agents of India" during the fourth phase of protests, concluding that India was main
hindrance to restoring "civilian supremacy" and "nationality".
The UCPN-Ms have been demanding that they be allowed to debate a resolution motion against the president in the House. The UCPN- Ms have
announced to launch an indefinite general strike if the government failed to pay heed to their demands by January 24.
